Suffolk Police Rescue Woman Who Drove Into Forge River In Mastic
MASTIC, NY — A woman who drove her BMW into a river in Mastic was saved by five Suffolk police officers on Tuesday.
A 53-year-old Shirley woman was driving a 2016 BMW i3 eastbound on Hampton Avenue when her vehicle went through a guardrail at the intersection with Riviera Drive and landed in the Forge River at 1:13 p.m., police said.
Seventh Precinct Officers Thomas Ciota, Sean Roche, Steven Rathjen, Michael Magioncalda, and Ryan Kelly went into the river and pulled the woman from her BMW.

Officer Richard Senese was able to find a way into the home and quickly encountered heavy smoke. Despite the life threatening fire, he located the boy and brought him to safety.
